Audrey Benton

Audrey has been practicing yoga since the 90s, teaching since 2002, and conducting teacher training for over a decade. She studied directly with Bikram Choudhury in ‘02 then in 2019 she journeyed to the Ghosh’s Yoga College in Kolkata to study under Muktamala Mitra, a member of the under the Ghosh family, who had trained Choudhury. During that span of time she also had the opportunity to learn from many prominent instructors including Baron Baptiste, Bryan Kest, Richard Miller, and Bernie Clark. The first time the Seattle area saw not only the integration of yin yoga and yoga nidra, but also a special head to head version of yoga nidra, is due to Audrey.

For Audrey, the "why" of yoga is about the health and healing for herself and others. Through yoga, she has seen practitioners come off medications, avoid surgeries, cure their scoliosis, alleviate arthritis pain, cure severe pelvic issues, reduce numerous pains, help process grief, find relief in mental health struggles, and so much more. She’s witnessed the transformative powers of yoga aid in the personal growth of individuals and help them become better versions of themselves.

Audrey strives to make all of her classes as rich and inclusive as possible. Her teaching is accessible, yet challenging, suitable for students at any level. Furthermore, she is trained to teach kids yoga through Rainbow Kids Yoga and Next Generation Kids Yoga.

Audrey’s passion for her practice is at an all-time high and she is eager to bring it to the West Seattle community and to the mat at JHY!
