Karen Weigelt

Karen Weigelt

Originally drawn to yoga in the 90's, as a complement to running, Karen entered her first Hot Yoga class in 2006, then in 2009, Karen signed up for a Baptiste "bootcamp" in Australia to find a different perspective on life after 25 years of a corporate travel schedule. However, instead of a yoga bootcamp, Karen had inadvertently enrolled in a Baptiste Teacher Training. This exceptionally challenging and rewarding experience was so transformative that she decided to take part in bringing yoga to others and has continued to do so.  Karen has trained with Baron Baptiste, completing Baptiste Teacher Training Level I, Level II, Art of Assisting, Advanced Art of Assisting and supported Baptiste events. Karen is also inspired by the approaches of several other yoga masters such as Bryan Kest and also Duncan Peak (Australia).

Having achieved the first headstand of her life at 46 years old, Karen believes you are never too young or too old to embrace the yoga journey. Teaching a two year old how to breath through frustration, an athlete how to create a shift in their body, or maintaining a powerful yet safe practice as we mature, Karen believes that there is something for everyone in yoga. In her view, yoga is a key element in maintaining a healthy body and mind, helping to clear the clutter and create your path through life challenges, both physical and mental.  She greatly enjoys sharing her passion for yoga and teaches a powerful class with a calming voice. Karen is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this exceptional group of teachers and yoga offerings to the West Seattle community.
